Home Lifts – not the traditional Stairlift!

RETIRED? FINDING THE STAIRS ARE BECOMING TOO MUCH?Home lifts

For years retired people have turned to the trusted stairlift when the stairs have started to become too much but a new trend has emerged with lifts for the home now a popular alternative.

Historically lifts and elevators have usually been something that would be ridden in places of work or shopping centres for example. But with awareness about home lifts growing all the time as more lift companies bring out their own products, a ‘real’ through floor lift is now considered by a growing population of people as a realistic option.

Unlike a stairlift that might be considered by some as obtrusive or slightly undignified for the user, a home lift can be tucked away in a number of places in the home as they can be fitted almost anywhere in the house.

Domestic lifts take up much less space that might be thought and offer people with mobility problems the independence to move around their property unaided. There is also a novelty factor to a house lift as they are available in lots of colours and finishes and can be made to blend into your home’s décor so at first glance it might not even be seen by visitors.

With demand for home lifts now at such a level the price of a through floor lift is a potentially more affordable for some people and being driven down all the time as the market becomes more competitive. The average cost of a home lift start at under £9,000 depending on the type of home lift you require up to around £13,000.

Home lifts that do not use hydraulics are also very quiet and take the passenger or passengers up to one floor in less than 30 seconds. There is also a special domestic through floor wheelchair lift available for wheelchair users with the lift made deeper and wider to fit a standard sized wheelchair. The lifts are also very easy to install, usually taking around a day, causing minimal disruption.
