Here are 10 of the best feel good movies that I know you will enjoy. There are hundreds of great movies, but I have chosen the ones below for that ‘feel good’

1 The Calendar Girls

The wonderful true story of Tricia Stewart who organised a rather unique calendar to raise funds for her best friends husband suffering from non Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Eleven women from the WI created a unique, nude, calendar was to raise money for Leukaemia and Lympoma Research.

The Calendar Girls movie was released in 2003 then later became a West End theatre production. Such a sweet movie we can enjoy for years to come.

2 About time

A romantic comedy by Richard Curtis starring the talented Bill Nighy and beautiful Rachel McAdams.

The story of a young man who can time travel creating some hilariously funny situations. A story about love and family that everyone will enjoy.

3 Their Finest

A story about a budding script writer, tasked with writing the script for a film about the rescue of the soldiers of Dunkirk.

Actress Gemma Arterton and Sam claflin, with Bill Nighy as the impossible leading star of the movie.

4 Brooklyn

The sweet story of a young woman who migrates from Ireland to America in the hope of a better life from unemployment in her home town of Enniscorthy.

Her journey to America is not an easy one and the story hight lights her struggles and her ultimate path back to Ireland.

Many will relate to how it feels to emigrate and how the pull back to your roots can be very strong. I love the sensitive nature of how the film is produces.

5 The secret life of Walter Mitty

Ben Stiller at his finest. Walter Mitty leaves his Negative Assets Manager job and goes on an incredible adventure.

This is a story about stepping out of your comfort zone and going on a journey of discovery.

6 The Notebook

Love conquers all. The Notebook is the ultimate story of Love that lasts a lifetime.

7 American Beauty

This powerful film of middle life crisis and the downward spiral of the Lester Burnham.

Annette Bening and Kevin Spacey make this film a masterpiece of cinema. The story line and production is sublime.

Funny, sinister and beautiful. This is a fabulous iconic film

8 Jean de Florette & Manon des Source

This is an iconic French movie, two movies actually. The story is set in a french village in Provence where two french farmers set out to trick a new comer out of his spring.

The characters, the location and the storyline is pure gold. It is so typically French and endearing that it stands out as one of my all time favourite films and one I recommend to others time and time again.

Whether you like foreign films or not, this is certainly a film you will enjoy.

9 About Schmidt

A bit sad and melancholy at times, but Jack Nicholson plays the role of a retired white collar worker going off on his travels in his beloved Winnebago in his usual Jack Nicholson style.

10 The Intern

I really enjoyed this movie. Anne Hathaway as the successful, yet hapless, business woman hires the wise and observant former MD Robert De Niro as a Senior Intern at her flourishing e-commerce business.

Summary

There are of course hundreds of movies to choose so choosing just 10 is a matter of choice. All of the above movies are rather special and enjoyable. Let me know what films you like.
